Digital Learning Flagship Programme
Design effective self-paced, live virtual and blended learning by aligning media, interaction, practice, pacing, facilitation and learner support.
Course overview
E-Learning, Virtual Classroom and Blended Learning Design develops the ability to design across modalities without assuming that digital delivery means converting classroom slides into online content. Participants start with performance, audience and context, then decide what should be self-paced, live, collaborative, supported or applied in the workplace.
The course addresses e-learning interactions, practice and feedback; live virtual session architecture; and blended journeys that connect preparation, live learning, peer interaction, application and reinforcement. Media and technology choices are evaluated according to learning purpose, accessibility and operational practicality.
Participants create a blended design and prototype that can be handed to an authoring, LMS or facilitation team for development and launch.
Learning outcomes
Who should attend
Prerequisites
Participants should bring a course or capability need that could benefit from digital or blended delivery. No specific authoring-tool expertise is required.
Course structure
The sequence develops understanding, application and practical outputs progressively across five connected Modules.

Module 5
Learning experience
Choose
Match delivery methods to performance, audience, interaction and operational constraints.
Design
Create self-paced and virtual learning around practice, feedback and participation.
Blend
Sequence preparation, live interaction, independent learning and workplace application.
Prototype
Create a sample digital or virtual component and review it for learning, usability and accessibility.
Launch
Define communications, support, data and review practices for operational delivery.

Delivery options
Instructor-led
Face-to-face learning with facilitated discussion, design workshops, practical exercises, peer review and immediate feedback.
Instructor-led
Interactive online delivery using collaborative workspaces, breakout activities, guided design and live facilitation.
Flexible
A structured combination of preparation, live sessions, applied assignments, portfolio development and follow-up application.
Organisation-specific
Tailored delivery using organisational terminology, learning assets, platforms, governance and capability priorities where appropriate.
Frequently asked questions
No. The course focuses on design decisions and transferable methods. Tool-specific development can be added in corporate delivery where required.
Yes. Participants design and practise key virtual-classroom interactions, activities, breakouts and contingencies.
No. The course treats blended learning as one connected journey in which each modality has a defined purpose and supports application and transfer.
Yes. Accessibility is considered across media, interaction, navigation, documents, captions, platform use and learner support.
Yes. Existing programmes can be analysed and re-architected for digital, virtual or blended delivery based on the required performance and learner experience.
