Unshifted Z
Normal-distribution Z value corresponding to the opportunity yield of 1 − DPO.
+1.5 Convention
Add 1.5 to the unshifted Z-bench estimate only when that convention is explicitly intended.
Interpret Carefully
DPMO and sigma communicate defect performance; they do not identify the root cause of defects.
Use honest unit, defect and opportunity definitions, state the sigma-conversion convention and combine the metric with stability, customer impact and root-cause analysis.
