Value Stream Mapping cues
Value-Added
Work that transforms the product or service in a way the customer values.
Necessary Non-Value-Added
Work that does not create customer value but is currently required by regulation, control or operating constraints.
Non-Value-Added
Work, delay or movement that creates no customer value and should be challenged for elimination.
Lead Time
Total elapsed time through the value stream: processing plus waiting and delay.
Process Cycle Efficiency
PCE = Value-Added Time ÷ Total Lead Time × 100.
Takt Time
Available Working Time ÷ Customer Demand. It is the pace required to meet demand.
