ADDIE Model Explorer
Navigate Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation as an integrated learning-design lifecycle, make phase decisions, observe their downstream consequences, test a delivery-pressure challenge, and convert the lifecycle into a practical management view.
Use ADDIE as a connected design system rather than five isolated boxes.
ADDIE structures learning design through five linked phases: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation and Evaluation. Each phase answers a different question, but decisions made early in the lifecycle influence everything that follows.
This explorer shows how performance evidence, objective and assessment alignment, prototyping, transfer support and evaluation choices combine to affect design integrity. The aim is not to treat ADDIE as a rigid waterfall, but to use it as a disciplined framework with feedback and iteration.
ADDIE Model Explorer — Step by Step
Eight locked stages establish a learning context, navigate the five ADDIE phases, apply a time-pressure challenge and conclude with management review.
ADDIE Phase Decisions, Alignment and Feedback
Reveal the learning context to begin.
Review the phase purpose, key question, decision, output and downstream implication.
Test an ADDIE Lifecycle
Experiment Mode is isolated from the guided demonstration. Adjust the strength of each ADDIE phase and observe lifecycle health, weakest-phase risk, transfer readiness and evaluation strength.
Test ADDIE lifecycle judgement.
ADDIE lifecycle cues
Analysis
Clarify the performance need, audience, context, constraints and evidence. Do not start by assuming the answer is a course.
Design
Define measurable objectives, evidence of achievement, learning sequence, practice and assessment before building materials.
Development
Create and test learning assets, activities and assessments. Prototype early enough for evidence to influence the design.
Implementation
Prepare facilitators, learners, managers, technology and workplace support so the designed experience can operate as intended.
Evaluation
Collect evidence about learning, behaviour and results, then use it to improve the intervention and revisit assumptions.
Iteration
ADDIE is structured, not necessarily linear. Evidence from development, implementation or evaluation can send the team back to earlier decisions.
Analyse the performance need, design for evidence, develop through testing, implement with transfer support, and evaluate what changed—not merely what was delivered.
