synopsis
Project Management in Practice is a five-day, integrated, case-study-based class. It provides a comprehensive synthesis of core project management principles to reinforce the Project Management Academy core curriculum's skills. It brings basic project management concepts to life. Delegates have the responsibility to lead a simulated project through project life cycle stages, producing the project's stage-gate deliverables. Attendees assess business opportunities, evaluate options, design, procure, fabricate, construct, and commission a product according to a predefined set of requirements. The delegates work in cross-functional teams to propose, plan and execute a full-scale project under typical internal and external organizational constraints. Each participant has a functional role assignment within the project team. Each team member will take a turn as the project manager. Delegates define objectives, perform tasks and produce the deliverables that are critical to the project's success. Delegates follow their project through the life cycle, resolving performance, scheduling, and control issues, as they address questions of leadership and management.
