Strategic Procurement and Partnership Programme

Strategic Procurement, Partnerships and Ecosystem Management

Use procurement, strategic partnerships and ecosystem relationships to strengthen capability, resilience, innovation and long-term organisational value.

Treat external relationships as strategic capabilities rather than transactional purchasing arrangements.

Organisations increasingly depend on suppliers, partners, alliances and ecosystems for technology, expertise, capacity, innovation and access to markets. Strategic procurement must therefore connect sourcing choices with enterprise strategy, risk, resilience and value.

This course develops the ability to segment supply markets and relationships, design sourcing and partnership strategies, evaluate make-buy-partner choices, govern critical relationships and manage ecosystem dependencies.

The programme emphasises fit-for-purpose relationships. Not every supplier should be treated as a strategic partner, and not every partnership requires the same governance, incentives or information sharing.

What participants will be able to do.

By the end of the course, participants should be able to:

  • Connect procurement and partnership strategy with organisational objectives and required capabilities.
  • Analyse supply markets, dependencies, concentration and strategic risk.
  • Evaluate make, buy, outsource, partner and ecosystem options.
  • Segment suppliers and relationships according to value, risk and strategic importance.
  • Design sourcing strategies that balance cost, capability, innovation and resilience.
  • Establish partnership governance, decision rights, incentives and performance expectations.
  • Map ecosystem actors, dependencies and value exchanges.
  • Create relationship and ecosystem review mechanisms that support adaptation and long-term value.

Designed for professionals who influence strategic choices or execution.

  • Commercial, contract and supplier-relationship managers.
  • Executives and functional leaders responsible for strategic partnerships.
