Technical Leadership Flagship Programme
Plan and lead systems engineering work, technical governance and multidisciplinary decisions with confidence.
Course overview
Systems Engineering Management and Technical Leadership strengthens the capability to plan, govern and lead multidisciplinary systems engineering across programmes and lifecycle stages.
Participants develop Systems Engineering Management Plan logic, tailor lifecycle processes, structure technical reviews, manage interfaces, configuration, information, decisions and risks, and lead collaboration across disciplines, suppliers and stakeholders.
The course emphasises technical authority, evidence, communication and judgement so leaders can create clarity without suppressing engineering learning and adaptation.
Learning outcomes
By the end of the course, participants should be able to:
Who should attend
Prerequisites
Participants should have practical experience in systems engineering, engineering management or complex technical delivery. This is not an introductory course.
Course structure
The sequence develops understanding, application and practical engineering outputs progressively across five connected Modules.
Module 1
Module 2
Module 3
Module 4
Module 5
Learning experience
Plan
Define processes, artefacts, responsibilities and tailoring appropriate to the work.
Govern
Set clear authority, evidence and review expectations.
Integrate
Connect risk, configuration, interfaces, information and change.
Lead
Guide multidisciplinary teams through ambiguity, conflict and trade-offs.
Improve
Use measures, lessons and maturity evidence to strengthen practice over time.

Delivery options
Instructor-led
Face-to-face delivery with facilitated discussion, system cases, engineering workshops, technical reviews and immediate feedback.
Instructor-led
Interactive online delivery using collaborative workspaces, modelling activities, breakout analysis and guided application.
Flexible
A structured combination of preparation, live sessions, applied assignments, engineering artefacts and follow-up application.
Organisation-specific
Tailored delivery aligned with organisational lifecycle processes, standards, systems, engineering roles, models and capability priorities.
Frequently asked questions
A SEMP defines how systems engineering will be organised, tailored, governed, integrated and evidenced for a programme or system lifecycle. The course develops an outline rather than prescribing one universal template.
Both. Technical leadership is effective when governance, evidence and engineering processes are integrated with communication, collaboration, challenge and judgement.
Yes. Participants design review purpose, entry/exit criteria, evidence expectations, authorities and follow-up actions.
Yes, particularly project or programme leaders responsible for complex technical delivery and interfaces with engineering leadership.
Yes. A tailored cohort can include a maturity diagnostic or facilitated improvement workshop linked to organisational practice.
Take the next step
Discuss public delivery, a corporate cohort or a tailored programme aligned with your organisation’s systems, lifecycle environment and engineering capability priorities.
